A collaboration between Chance Running and Unsanctioned Athletics, OFFTrail is a one-day event held in Chamonix, France, during the UTMB weekend. An inclusive and free to enter event, OFFTrail is an open-to-all race, gathering and party.

As part of our on-going support for Chance, we created an identity for the race, including the name, messaging and launch strategy. Imbued with a loud rebellious tone, the event identity celebrates individualism, community and enjoying the freedom of the outdoors. Taking inspiration from an eclectic range of cultural references, the look and feel journeys from black metal and punk typography to acid graphics and rave flyers.

Integral to the identity and launch campaign is a Chamois (local mountain goat), sprinting nimbly across the rugged terrain of the area. The OFFTrail word marque features a hand-drawn, expressive ‘O’, that communicates a desire to leave the beaten path and embrace the rough stuff. To keep brand recognition high, all of this is supported by the classic Chance arrow, which bears a suitably off-trail rough texture.

The awareness campaign sparked interest, resulting in a huge turn out for runners eager to race, not just come for the party. With rapidly dwindling stock and keenly increased demand, this first journey into a capsule event was a great success.
